Intel Processors have a variety of numbers and
other characters. What do they mean?
This will guide you to properly identify the
processor.
ඉන්ටෙල් ප්‍රොසෙසර වල තිබෙන අංක සහ අක්ෂර වලින් කියවෙන්නේ කුමක් ද ඔබේ ඉන්ටෙල් ප්‍රොසෙසරය හඳුනා ගන්න.
Intel 3rd Generation:
Intel Core i7 - 3520 M Processor
§ 7 or N (7 in this
example) = Brand
Note: Does this have 4
Cores? No it does NOT have 4 cores. Its dual core. It has 4 threads. 7 is just the brand name. So, every
processor with 7 does not have 4 cores. Surprised?
§ 3520 = ID.
§ 3 = generation
identifier.
§ M - the product line (i.e.
Mobile).
Intel core i7 3920 XM
§ X is for Extreme.
§ M is product line.
§ 3 indicates that it belongs to generation 3.
§ It has 4 cores/8threads.
Other Indicators
§ K - Unlocked (over clocking enabled/no static
multiplier and enabled.) - කේ සීරීස් වල ඕවර්ක්ලොකින්ග් පහසුකම ඇත.
§ QM - Quad core Mobile - 4 cores and 8
threads.
§ S - Performance Optimized lifestyle, higher
speeds usually (කාර්යක්ෂමතාව අරමුනුකරගෙන නිර්මාණය කරන ප්‍රොසෙසර).
§ T - Power Optimized lifestyle (බල පරිභෝජන කාර්යක්ෂමතාවය)
These also apply to core i second generation and 1st generation
series (මෙය ඉන්ටෙල් කෝ අයි දෙවන සහ පළමු පරම්පරා සඳහාත් අදාළ වේ).
Other generations?
Intel Core 2 (second generaration of Intel core duo).
§ Intel Core 2 Duo - Brand.
§ E = Desktop energy efficient dual-core.
§ 8500 - Model.
§ E - Energy efficient desktop (TDP greater than
or equal to 55W - TDP is Termal Design Power which is the maximum power that a
cooling system consumes/desipates - ටී ඩී එම් යනු සිසිලන පද්ධතිය සඳහා අවශ්‍ය උපරිම ජවය. W is Wattage. )
§ L - Even more enregy efficient Mobile Processors
(TDP is around 12-19W).
§ P - Energy efficient mobile (TDP is around
20-29W).
§ Q - Quad core higher performance mobile.
§ QX - Quad core extreme.
§ S - Mobile small form-factor with 22x22 BGA
package(mini type). This technology is based on Intel Centrino Mobile
Technology. ස්මෝල් ෆෝම් ෆැක්ටර් සකස් කළේ මිනි සහ නෝට්බුක් පද්ධති සඳහා. මෙය ඉන්ටෙල් සෙන්ට්‍රිනෝ තාක්ෂනය මත පදනම් ව ගොඩනැගුනු තාක්ෂනය කි. ඉන්ටෙල් සෙන්ට්‍රිනෝ යනු කාර්යක්ෂම, විදුලි බල සුරැකුම සහ සිසිලනය උසස් කරනලද ජංගම පද්ධති සඳහා සකස් කරන ලද තාක්ෂණයකි (සම්මතයන්).
§ T - Same with TDP arund 30-39W.
§ U - Ultra Energy Efficient (the lowest) with a
TDP around 11.9W.
§ X - Desktop or Mobile Extreme, Quad core.
Intel Core 2 Quad
§ Quad indicates it belongs to the quad family.
4 Cores.
§ S indicates lower TDP.
Intel Atomn
§ Basically 3 digits or 1 charactor + 3
digits (i.e. 330, N270).
§ N is for Netbook class. එන් යනු නෙට්බුක් සීරීස් ප්‍රොසෙසරයන්.
§ Z is for Mobile Internet Device (MID). ජංගම අන්තර්ජාල පහසුකම් සහිත පද්ධති වලට.
§ Higher numbers or letters indicate improved
technology. But, higher number of processors may not have all the features that
lower number have. ඉහල අගයන් (i.e. D, N) ඇති ප්‍රොසෙසර වඩා හොඳ පහසුකම් සහිත ඒවායි. ඉහල අංකයක් සහිත වුවත් පහල සීරීස් වල ඇති පහදුකම් එකක් හෝ කීපයක් ඉවත් වීමට හැකියි.
Intel Pentium
§ All the processors are Desktop and
energy efficient. But, TDP >= 65W so not that nice. (ඩෙස්ක්ටොප් ප්‍රොසෙසර, බල පිරිමැසුම්. කෙසේ වුවත් ටී ඩී පී අගය වොට් 65 හෝ ඉහල අගයකි).

Intel Celeron
§ i.e. Intel Celeron 450, Intel Celeron E1200. 3
digits ro 1 charactor + 3 digits.
§ Higher numbers or letters indicate improved
technology. But, higher number of processors may not have all the features that
lower number have. ඉහල අගයන් (i.e. D, N) ඇති ප්‍රොසෙසර වඩා හොඳ පහසුකම් සහිත ඒවායි. ඉහල අංකයක් සහිත වුවත් පහල සීරීස් වල ඇති පහදුකම් එකක් හෝ කීපයක් ඉවත් වීමට හැකියි.
§ Processors with a higher number includes

Intel Xeon the powerhouse - 24/7 operations.
§ E3 - Single Processor - For small networks,
web server, database or social networks (කුඩා ප්‍රමාණයේ ජාල සහිත සර්වර/වෙබ් සර්වර, දත්ත ගබඩාවක්, සමාජ ජාල වෙබ් සර්වර සඳහා).
§ E5 - Multi Processor - For data centers,
virtual (ව'චුවල් - අථත්‍ය) environments, clouds.
§ E7 - Multi Processor - For servers (including
databases and application servers including datacenters) with real time data
handling (mission ccritical), heavy number crunching, higher security and
maximum performance. සර්වර් පද්ධති සඳහා (ඉතා ඉහල කාර්යක්ෂමතාවයක්, ආරක්ෂාවක් සහ කාල සංවේදීත්වය අවශ්‍ය පද්ධති සහ දත්ත ගබඩා, දත්ත මධ්‍යස්ථාන සඳහා).
§ L - Power Optimized. Power consumption is
relatively low. බල පිරිමැසුම්.
Intel Xeon (G1)/Itanium (genuin Intel 64bit
architecture).

§ Usually comes with 4 digit identifier.
§ X - Performance. කාර්යක්ෂම.
§ E - Mainstream (rack-optimized).
§ L - Power Optimized.
Intel Xeon is not for home use. Well, only if
you run a server.

and appliances - සන්නිවේදන යටිතල ව්‍යුහ සහිත සර්වර්, බ්ලේඩ් සහ උපකරණ.
§ Security servers, blades, and appliances - ආරක්ෂණ සර්වර්, බ්ලේඩ් සහ උපකරණ.
§ Storage servers, blades, and appliances - ගබඩා සර්වර්, බ්ලේඩ් සහ උපකරණ.
§ Carrier-grade rack-mount servers (i.e.HP
ProLiant DL380 G6 Carrier-Grade Server)- විදුලි සංදේශ පද්ධති සඳහා යෝග්‍ය රැක් පද්ධති.
§ Proprietary, non-standard form factors, such
as router modules.
§ AdvancedTCA*-based blades.
§ Medical servers, blades, and appliances - වෛද්‍ය විද්‍යාවට අදාළ මද්‍යස්ථාන සඳහා වූ පද්ධති.
